After six years as the head girls tennis coach, Jeff Williams is stepping down from this role.
“I have been coaching at St. Anthony since 2016, and it has been an amazing experience,” said Coach Williams. “I have been extremely lucky in the players I have had the privilege to work with. Every year they have helped me grow and become a better coach and person. I am also thankful for the other coaches I have worked with who have always been supportive and done their best for the program and student athletes.”
Williams was previously employed at St. Anthony High School as an Intervention Specialist. Earlier this fall, he accepted a new role at the University of Minnesota.
“Jeff Williams personifies what it means to be a transformational coach,” said Director of Athletics and Activities Troy Urdahl. “We were very fortunate to have him as the leader of our girls tennis program and wish him the best as he transitions to new adventures.”
Highlights from Coach Williams’ time as head coach include winning a conference championship at Visitation and this past year’s trip to Duluth with the team. He also enjoyed going to graduation parties and seeing how much tennis was part of the high school experience for all of his players.
Jeff’s future plans revolve around being a dad and finding out what his daughter’s passions may be. He is excited to support her in those pursuits, tennis or not.
The search for another great tennis coach will begin immediately.
