SAVHS and SAMS Families,
As we near August, we know families have a lot of questions about what fall sports / activities might look like and what the school's communication timeline will look like. In an effort to communicate as much as possible - with all the information we know - below is a summary of where we stand, as of today, for the fall of 2020's sports and activities. This information is for SAVHS and SAMS school-based activities, it does not apply to St. Anthony Sports Boosters programming.
-
The current plan is to start fall sports on Monday, August 17th
-
The return to athletic participation will be dependent on announcements regarding the 2020-21 school year from the Governor, Minnesota Department of Education, and Minnesota Department of Health
-
There will likely not be a final/definitive answer on fall sports/activities until after the next Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Board Meeting, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 4th
-
Until a final decision has been made by the MSHSL regarding the timing of fall seasons, we have made the decision to delay registrations for fall sports/activities. As soon as the registration system is opened, we will notify our families
-
A reminder that all students need a sports qualifying physical in order to participate in MSHSL activities
-
Due to COVID-19, the MSHSL has granted an extension so that a student with a three-year clearance that expires at any time from March 12, 2020 through the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year will have the clearance extended through the completion of the 2020-2021 school year
As some school groups meet following MDE, MDH, and MSHSL allowances for this summer, please continue to follow these important guidelines so that we can return to school and sports / activities as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Dr. Troy Urdahl
SANB Activities Director
